"and Along Came Pretty Little May"

You earn 50 points for Gryffindor if you you can name the musical where the lyric "...and along came pretty little May" comes from.  May was a pretty little month.  Everything is green.  The weather has been pleasant with a little rain almost every week.

 We hosted another Super P-Day activity for the missionaries.  This time we had another senior couple, the Schneblys, attend also.  Do you know where I can get a bib like that?  We served taco salad.

 After some good chocolate chip cookie bars we went for a tour of the beautiful synagogue here in Szeged.

 Also visiting us were the Smiths, Kyle and Katelyn.  Kyle was our MTC Skype tutor for Hungarian language study and he and his wife spent three nights in our apartment on their visit from the States.

This is a third of the listings in the synagogue for the Holocaust victims of Szeged.  Just Szeged!

 This month we had a senior couple and three young adults from Romania come and join us for an institute class, and meal, and guess what, a photo scavenger hunt.  Never waste a good idea.

This month saw some baptisms for our branch.  Two eight year old boys from member families were baptized plus...

 I include this picture of one of the boys and his family, the Mari family.  A nice, all-together family like this is rare here and very valued.

 Andrea found this Star Wars lego display and knew our grandkids would enjoy seeing it....

 and enjoy knowing that Hungarian kids like legos too.

 May means Mother's Day and here is a picture of a happy mother skyping with her son.

What a treat for both of us to see and hear from Nathan in Texas.  We were up until well past midnight.  Well, OK, Andrea was up until way past midnight.  I didn't quite make it.

I went with the young elders to do a service project at a member's house.  We each got to try out using a scythe.  (Grim Reaper beware!)

But we were really there to pull weeds.

 A lunch with our four young missionaries.  We take them out any week in which they meet their mission goals.

 And now, the day of the big dragon boat race!  Here is our team waiting for their turn.

And now you get to see that, yes, it is a race.

 I had a personal service project this month.  While Andrea gave a visiting teaching message, I repaired walls.

I didn't have to repair something this bad but I did have to stucco over bricks that were originally plastered with mud and straw.

 Our Mission President and his wife, at the far end of the table, took some of our branch leadership out to dinner in connection with branch conference.  This place is right on the river and specializes in fish.

 We had a sajt night for our young adults.  Pronounce it "Shight night".  Sajt is cheese.  They all did a great job preparing cheese sticks in assembly line fashion.
